Five days in the City of Life… numerous malls, beautiful temples, great food, ease of moving around (particularly in areas catered to by the BTS Skytrain) !! And few other things worth mentioning…  my first solo trip to a foreign country and I did not have a very definite and packed itinerary!  Stopping over in Bangkok for 5 days on my way to India was not a bad decision at all!!

I stayed in Siam which proved to be a great decision as I was literally at a stone’s throw from National Stadium BTS Skytrain! This made my commute to a whole area of the city (mostly malls and shopping) such a breeze!

Christmas time and night views of MBK and everywhere around were superb!

This was the street my hotel was on…

And the huge tree…IMG_20171217_230722

The magic of lights everywhere…

Loved the way Skytrain and Skywalk bridges are established round this part of the city… If you are up for a walk, go from one mall to another and see the lights on the way ….

Did a day trip to the famous Ayothaya, which has ruins of the ancient temples…

And the famous Buddha in the tree… this is the main attraction and the picture which actually sells this day trip 🙂

Few other temples…

And the Winter Palace…

Spent one full day exploring ‘Wats’ around the city… using water taxis, sky trains and cabs to commute which was great fun….

The famous Wat Arun…

The Wat Pho needs no introduction

The Grand Palace, though very crowded has some amazing pieces of architecture…

This is a memorial the Late King, Costed about 10 billion dollars!!!

Terminal 21 is a special mall, with each floor themed on a city… This suspension bridge on the top floor is the highlight……

And the best of all, a Vegan Thai Cooking Class… on the last day…Dessert of the trip 🙂

I had fun exploring this city on my own. Few people were curious, before I left, about what will I do in just Bangkok for five full days! But I was busy like all the time!! Exploring markets and malls, roaming around with newly made friends to get a great meal or getting massages….there was so much to do!! And as always, there were things I could have done if I had more time!!!
