Bayon is the temple of mysterious face-towers, constructed in 12th and 13th century!
There are about 17 towers standing today, out of total 59, most of which had a face on all four sides.
It as State Temple of Jayavarnam VII and has undergone lot of modifications by later kings!
It was the last temple to be built at Angkor and had a Mahayana Budhhist shrine.
Like all Khmer temples, it has a maze of galleries!
The outer gallery has got bas reliefs like all Khmer temples which depict day to day living activities of the people and historical events.
