This post is about the most important technique learnt during the course.

We talked about the four energies which drive us, viz, food, water, state of mind and air.We all know that air is the most important among these as we can’t be without it for long as compared to the other three.

Also, air (or breath/breathing) is something which can be harnessed to control the state of mind and bad emotions like depression, anger etc. It’s like channelising the energy in the correct way to maximise the bandwidth to have positive attitude in life.

 ‘Sudarshan Kriya’ is the way it’s achieved. Sudarshan Kriya is a breathing technique invented by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in 1982. Since then, millions of people have adopted and practised it for a better life. Research says that one uses only 30% of the lung capacity in normal breathing. Sudarshan Kriya helps to increase it to 100%. Regular practice can help you get rid of sinus and respiratory problems and boost immunity.

I never knew one can put so much of discipline into breathing. Moreover, I was a bit skeptical about the benefits promised. When we were first made to do this under the guidance Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s voice, it was a truly divine experience. After doing it for four days in a row, each one of us felt the difference in our energy levels, the change was really evident!

This is for the first time that something like this has worked for me. We have  a 40 day challenge (today is 5th) to do this regularly and then stop on the 41st day. They claim that that’s when we will realise the effect of the process and they leave it on us to decide how frequently  we need to continue doing the Kriya!

For people who have done the Happiness program, there are follow-up sessions every weekend in various suburbs of Melbourne where we get to do the full Kriya in a group. The home practise takes 30 minutes in total. I look forward to finishing the 40 days challenge and the weekend follow-ups! 

If putting a little effort can make so much of difference in your health and well-being, it’s worth it! If not anything, just breathing is not going to kill you! Sure recommendation it is! You really need to try this out yourself  to experience the magic!
