Jolly Buy island is a star tourist attraction for people travelling to Andaman. It is one of the 15 islands in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park and is open from November to May for tourists as it is protected for corals. If you happen to visit Andaman from May to November, you can visit Red Skin island, another of the 15 islands.
One needs to go to Wandoor beach, which is about 45 minutes drive from Port Blair, and then take a ferry to Jolly Buoy Island.
The Ferry ride offers you breathtaking views of lots of small islands covered with thick green forests! The water is clean, calm and the serenity is breathtaking :). This was one of the most amazing water-activity (yeah, a ferry ride counts as an activity for me!!) I have done!
The island itself is very small and very clean & brilliantly maintained.
You need to take permission to visit this island! No plastic allowed on the island, you get milton water bottles to carry water. As for things to do, it is a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers! The underwater beauty is mesmerizing! If you can’t do any of these, enjoy the corals from a glass bottom boat.
You get to spend 3-4 hours on this island before the ferry takes you back at about 2- 2:30 PM. If you are interested in corals, see them here rather than in Elephant Beach in Havelock island or North Bay! Keep one day for Jolly Buoy Island in your itinerary and you will not regret it!
